Coffee first. A little room in the day.
Brunch in Lisbon, without rushing the morning
Some mornings want eggs and a proper table. Others need a good coffee and something flaky before a walk. These are six stops already in our Lisbon guide, not a citywide league table. Choose the kind of morning you want, then open the place for the right branch and your saved-list button.

In short
For brunch in Lisbon, start with the morning you want: Neighbourhood in Santos for coffee and brunch, COMOBÅ for a savoury burrito or matcha pancakes, Dear Breakfast in Bica for eggs, or TIMS and Do Beco for a bakery-led stop. Check the branch and kitchen service, not just whether the café is open.

Coffee & a proper brunch
Neighbourhood Cafe Lisbon
One of Umur’s favourites. Choose the Santos branch for coffee and brunch, or come back for a smash burger in the evening. Give yourself time at the busy brunch hour.
A starting pointSpecialty coffee and brunch for the morning; come back for a smash burger if you want the evening version.

Sweet or savoury
COMOBÅ
Start gently here: a coffee, something to eat, then a walk towards the river. No need to launch straight into seven hills.
A starting pointBica breakfast burrito for a savoury start, or matcha pancakes for a sweet one. Matcha fans have plenty to choose from here.

Eggs in Bica
Dear Breakfast
Use the Bica branch for eggs Benedict or caramel-and-banana pancakes. This is an all-day breakfast stop, not a dinner plan. If Santa Catarina is next, keep the climb for after coffee.
A starting pointEggs Benedict, or caramel-and-banana pancakes for a sweeter start.

Bakery-led morning
TIMS · bakery & café
Coffee and something from the bakery, with a museum around you. TIMS sits inside the Museu das Comunicações; you do not need a museum ticket just to visit the café. A nice nearby start to a slower day.
A starting pointPain suisse or monkey bread from the bakery; avocado toast if you want a savoury brunch. Check what is available when you arrive.

Bread, pastry & coffee
Do Beco Santos
The production room is part of the appeal: you can see the pastry team at work rather than just the finished counter. We would choose a pain au chocolat or cinnamon roll with coffee, then keep the rest of the morning for Santos. Use the Santos branch, not the brand’s other addresses.
A starting pointA pain au chocolat or rolo de canela, a cinnamon roll, with coffee. Choose from what is actually at the counter.

Cais do Sodré morning
Café Janis
We would start with coffee and a pastry, then walk down to the river. This corner has another life later on: the all-day café gives way to an evening drink. Choose the visit you want rather than expecting the breakfast menu to run through the night.
A starting pointCoffee and a morning pastry for the early visit; a cocktail for the evening version. Ask which food menu is being served.
A table, a bakery stop, or coffee on the way
A full brunch and a quick pastry are different plans. Choose Neighbourhood, COMOBÅ or Dear Breakfast when breakfast is going to be the meal. If you want to keep moving, start with the bakery counter at Do Beco or TIMS instead. Café Janis fits a Cais do Sodré morning before the river.
You do not need to cross Lisbon to tick every café off a list. Pick one near the next part of your day, save a second as a backup and leave room to change your mind. The cards above keep the original places and notes together.
Open café does not always mean open brunch kitchen
Neighbourhood publishes brunch kitchen service from 08:30–15:00, then burgers from 17:00. Coffee and something sweet are a different proposition between those meal services. It is walk-in: plan for the possibility of a wait rather than treating the opening time as a table reservation.
TIMS separates weekday breakfast, weekday lunch and weekend dishes. Use its current menu for your day instead of assuming that a photograph of a dish means it is served all afternoon. The place pages and operator links are the useful final check.
What we would start looking at
At COMOBÅ, the menu gives a clear sweet-versus-savoury choice: Bica breakfast burrito or matcha pancakes. Dear Breakfast highlights Benedict and pancakes. TIMS has avocado toast as well as bakes; Do Beco is the bread-and-pastry choice in the existing guide.
These are starting points, not an instruction to ignore the counter or a new special. Ask what is fresh, and choose the portion you actually want. A coffee and pastry can be enough before lunch; ordering a complete brunch is not compulsory.
The useful little sentence before ordering
“Sem coentros, por favor” means “No coriander, please”. Say it before the order goes to the kitchen, and ask whether the sauce or prepared filling already contains it. It is much easier than trying to pick it out afterwards.
For allergies or a strict dietary requirement, ask about the dish and kitchen directly. A vegan variation or a gluten-free menu label does not answer every cross-contact question. COMOBÅ lists a tempeh variation for its breakfast burrito; check which version you are ordering.
Keep the next stop easy
After a Santos or Cais do Sodré breakfast, let the riverfront or Green Street be the next part of the morning. From Bica, Santa Catarina can be the uphill option if that is the walk you feel like doing. Treat these as loose pairings, not timed walking guarantees.
Save places to My Lisbon on your device, or open Plan my days when you want a larger route. Check the first commitment of the day before lingering over another coffee: a ticketed visit is less flexible than this shortlist.
Quick answers
Can I book a table at Neighbourhood?
Neighbourhood’s published policy is walk-in, not table reservations. The Santos and Graça cafés are separate branches; use the place page for the one you want.
Which Dear Breakfast is in this shortlist?
The Bica branch at Rua das Gaivotas 17. Do not use a different Dear Breakfast address simply because it has the same brand name.
Do I have to order a full brunch?
No. Do Beco and TIMS also make sense for a coffee-and-bakery stop. Ask what is fresh and available at the counter.
Are these today’s fixed menus?
No. The cards retain our existing guide notes; current operator links support specific menu and service checks. Menus, stock and service periods can change.
