Lisbon airport: arrival and departure

Take the Red-line Metro for a suitable city connection, or compare a licensed taxi and an Uber/Bolt quote for a door-to-door ride. Check your return terminal before setting off.

In short

From Lisbon airport, compare the Red-line Metro, a licensed taxi and an app-booked car for your actual destination. The roughly 20-minute Metro example ends at Saldanha, not your hotel. Check the return-flight terminal: Terminal 2 needs its own transfer plan. Use the official boards and your airline for flight updates.

ANA’s roughly 20-minute Metro example is Aeroporto–Saldanha, not a journey to every hotel. Choose your actual destination first, then check the transfer and final approach. For Santos and Cais do Sodré, our detailed guide explains the change of line.

Keep your arrival directions available before leaving Wi-Fi. With tired children or a suitcase, a simpler final approach can matter more than the shortest line on a map.

Before the Metro gates

A bank-card Metro journey is €1.92. A Metro zapping journey is €1.72; the Carris/Metro ticket is €1.90, with a separate €0.50 occasional support card where required. A combined day product is a different choice again.

Each person needs their own accepted ticket, card or device. With contactless bank payment, use the same physical card or same device at entry and exit. Keep a phone or watch charged until you are out. A Metro bank-card tap does not buy an onward CP train or ferry journey.

Meter, voucher or app quote?

Use the official taxi queue or book through the app. Do not accept an unsolicited ride offer inside the terminal. For a metered taxi, check that the meter is running and ask for a receipt.

The separate taxi-voucher option

Turismo de Portugal’s 22 September 2026 notice describes Turismo de Lisboa vouchers sold at the airport’s Ask Me Lisboa desk, with a price agreed before the journey. Its reported fares for up to 4 passengers are:

Voucher product reported September 2026 · confirm the current quote and zone
Reported periodZone 1Zone 2
Weekdays 07:00–22:00€16.00€19.00
Night, weekends and public holidays€20.00€23.00

The notice lists desk sales 07:00–22:00 daily and a different range for larger vehicles. Confirm the zone, capacity and final amount for your address. These are not Uber/Bolt prices or a tariff for every taxi.

Finding an app-booked car

ANA lists pickup at P2, Level 2, arrivals level. Follow the airport signs and the assigned point in your app; check the driver and number plate. For departure, ANA lists Drop Off 1 or Drop Off 2 by the departures area, but check the actual terminal and your driver’s instructions.

If you need a child seat, accessible vehicle or room for oversized luggage, arrange that vehicle rather than assuming a standard car will suit.

Terminal 1 is not Terminal 2

Read the terminal on your actual ticket. ANA describes Terminal 2 as departure-only and provides a free shuttle between the terminals. Its T2 page lists an approximately 12-minute interval and a roughly 3-minute ride; waiting, queues and the rest of your airport journey are extra.

For an early or late flight, check ANA’s current shuttle arrangements. Its terminal pages do not give a consistent operating window, so we have not turned one into a fixed timetable here.

ANA · Terminal 2 and shuttle · checked 2026-10-18 ↗

ANA lists Terminal 2 open 03:30–00:30. Terminal 1 is open 24 hours, but from 00:30–03:00 access is restricted to passengers with boarding passes or reservations, staff and crew. Do not plan around an unrestricted overnight public waiting area.

The T1/T2 terminal shuttle is not the old Aerobus city service. Do not rely on an old Aerobus booking link for the journey into town; use ANA’s current transport choices instead.

Give the bags their own plan

For a stopover returning to the airport, ANA lists lockers outside Terminal 1, departures level, with advertised 24-hour access. Check the size, fees, collection conditions and whether a locker is available.

For a day around Santos or Cais do Sodré, compare storage near your next move instead. Choose the collection point around your departure, not only the nearest pin. Keep documents, medication and valuables with you, and save the collection instructions.

Before you head back

  1. Check the airline’s departure terminal, check-in and bag-drop instructions.
  2. Use the official board for your flight, then follow the airport displays.
  3. Leave room for the station transfer or road journey, plus bags and airport procedures.
  4. If you use city luggage storage, collect the bags before its closing time.

We would save the longer cross-city outing for another day. One meal or a short wander near your collection point is easier to change if your timing moves.

Airport questions, answered

How much is the Metro from Lisbon Airport?

Selected 2026 Metro products are €1.92 for a bank-card journey, €1.72 for a zapping journey and €1.90 for a Carris/Metro ticket. The €0.50 occasional support card is separate. Choose for all the operators in your journey.

Is an airport taxi always a fixed price?

No. A metered taxi, an app-car quote and the Turismo de Lisboa voucher are different products. Confirm the destination, vehicle capacity and final amount before choosing; a voucher price is not the price of every airport journey.

Where is the Uber or Bolt pickup?

ANA lists P2, Level 2, arrivals level. Follow current signs and your app’s assigned point, and match the driver and number plate.

Can I use the Metro for a Terminal 2 departure?

Yes, but allow for the free shuttle from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 as well. ANA’s approximate 12-minute interval and 3-minute ride do not include the rest of your airport journey. Check your airline’s terminal and ANA’s early or late shuttle arrangements.

Can I leave luggage at the airport?

Yes. ANA lists lockers outside Terminal 1, departures level, with advertised 24-hour access. Check bag size, price and collection conditions before paying; locker availability is not shown here.

About the checks

Selected ANA, Metro and tourism-authority source pages were checked on 18 October 2026. The voucher figures describe the dated September notice, not a new live quote. The page does not reproduce live flights, queues, taxi availability or a verified shuttle operating window. Photo credits →
