A little arithmetic. More room for Lisbon.

Lisboa Card: does it fit your Lisbon?

A city pass should fit the trip you want, not turn it into a race between ticket offices. Choose the places you actually want to visit, add the transport you would otherwise pay for, and compare. A slower day can be the better day, even when the card is not the cheaper choice.

Jerónimos Monastery

In short

Lisboa Card costs €31 for 24 hours, €51 for 48 hours or €62 for 72 hours for adults. It combines covered transport with included admissions and separate discounts. Compare the visits you genuinely plan to make; collect the physical card before arranging required monument slots. MAAT is discounted, not free. The calculator keeps that remaining charge visible.

YOUR PLANS, NOT A SALES ITINERARY

Does the card add up?

One full-paying adult, aged 26–64, visiting from outside Portugal. Choose visits within the same card window. Children and other concessions need their own ticket comparison.

Import is optional and stays on this device. It never changes your saved places or plan.

The interactive comparison needs JavaScript. The official prices, collection steps, admission table and sources below still work.

Prices checked 18 October 2026; official card price period ends 31 March 2027. This is price arithmetic, not a check of opening hours, bookable slots or how many visits fit in a day.

Lisboa Card prices: keep the hours and ages separate

The adult card is €31 for 24 hours, €51 for 48 hours and €62 for 72 hours. Child cards, ages 4–15, cost €21, €28 and €35 respectively. These are VAT-inclusive figures published for the period ending 31 March 2027. This page is a comparison, not a booking checkout.

The calculator uses a full-paying visitor aged 26–64 living outside Portugal as its starting point. That avoids quietly applying a youth ticket to an older adult or a resident museum price to a visitor. If you qualify for a cheaper separate admission, change its amount before comparing. For children, check each venue separately: a child card does not make every child ticket free.

Free entry, a discount, or neither?

Rua Augusta Arch ↗€5.00Admission included
Pilar 7 Bridge Experience ↗€3.00Admission included
MAAT ↗€16.0015% off · €13.60 still payable

Those are three different things. The castle, Jerónimos, Lisboa Story Centre, Rua Augusta Arch and Pilar 7 have included entry in the checked card information. MAAT has a 15% reduction: the standard €16 visitor ticket still leaves €13.60 to pay. The result adds that charge to the pass price rather than counting the whole ticket as a saving.

The six priced choices are a starting set, not the complete card catalogue. For other planned attractions, use the two extra-ticket amounts after checking their own terms. Leave the with-card amount blank and the calculator assumes no extra saving. A stroll along Rua Augusta is free; do not add the arch ticket unless you actually intend to go up.

Count only the transport you would otherwise buy

The official FAQ includes Metro, city buses and trams, plus trains to Sintra, Cascais and Setúbal; it explicitly excludes public boats. That is not an all-Portugal rail pass, a taxi allowance or a promise that every extra bus on a day trip is covered. Check the particular service before adding it.

Enter what you would really spend on covered travel during the same window. If a separate transport pass is the cheaper option for you, use that alternative rather than adding an expensive onboard fare for every journey. Leave taxis, flights, uncovered connections and travel outside the card window out of the amount. You can compare admission alone by leaving transport at zero.

Collect first. Then activate with a plan.

  1. Buy through the official shop or an Askme Lisboa desk; keep the order confirmation.

  2. Exchange the confirmation for the physical card at an Askme Lisboa desk. Check the chosen desk’s actual opening hours before going.

  3. Fill in the card’s date and time and sign it. First public-transport validation starts the consecutive-hour window.

  4. Use the physical card number to arrange any required monument slot before relying on that visit.

An online order is not a digital card you can use at the gates. Collection and activation are separate steps, so think about when you want the clock to start. A 24-hour pass is a continuous window, not a ticket that resets at midnight. The shop describes a six-month voucher redemption period; check the conditions on your particular order.

Two checks matter more than a big savings number

First, can you get the visits you want? Jerónimos and Belém Tower require a date and time booked using the physical card number, subject to the allocation for card holders. Buying the pass is not the same as securing a slot. We do not include Belém Tower in the default arithmetic while its current visit arrangements need checking.

Second, is the route suitable for you? Pilar 7 currently warns that its lift is under maintenance, with 372 steps to the viewpoint. The Rua Augusta Arch lists a lift followed by 74 steps. A paid ticket or an included admission says nothing on its own about step-free access. Open the venue information before adding a stop you could not comfortably use.

The official catalogue currently flags the Tile and Ancient Art museums closed for renovations. They do not appear as ready-to-use savings here. Keep an eye on opening days too: Jerónimos lists Monday closure, while MAAT closes Tuesday. A pass cannot turn a closed door into a visit.

A fair comparison, kept on your device

Tick the visits within one card window, or explicitly import matching stops from My Lisbon or your latest saved planner trip. Importing reads only this browser when you press the button. It does not change the saved list, send your plan to a provider or treat every unpriced stop as included.

The separate-ticket column adds the admissions you selected and your covered-transport budget. Each pass column adds its own price and any admission still payable. A cheaper concession is not stacked with the MAAT reduction: the calculator uses the lower valid separate amount. The three durations compare the same basket; they do not prove that six visits fit into 24 hours.

Use the figure as a decision aid, not a target. If the card saves money but makes your day rushed, leave something out and run it again. The best purchase is the one that suits the Lisbon you actually want to spend time in.

Quick answers

Is Lisboa Card worth it for my trip?

It depends on the admissions and covered travel you would otherwise buy within one consecutive window. Compare that total with the pass price plus any admission still payable. A discount is not free entry, and a required monument slot must be arranged separately. The calculator lets you use your actual choices instead of a packed sample itinerary.

How much does Lisboa Card cost?

The official adult prices checked on 18 October 2026 are €31 for 24 hours, €51 for 48 hours and €62 for 72 hours. Child cards for ages 4–15 cost €21, €28 and €35. VAT is included; the shop publishes these prices as valid through 31 March 2027.

Can I use my online order as a digital Lisboa Card?

No. Exchange the order confirmation for the physical card at an Askme Lisboa desk. Check that desk’s hours before travelling. First public-transport validation starts the card’s consecutive-hour window; required Jerónimos and Belém Tower slots use the physical card number and depend on capacity.

Does Lisboa Card cover trains to Sintra and Cascais?

The official FAQ includes trains to Sintra, Cascais and Setúbal as well as Metro, buses and trams. It excludes public boats. Check any separate onward bus or tour rather than assuming that the whole day trip is covered.

Is MAAT free with Lisboa Card?

No. The specific Visit Lisboa MAAT partner listing gives a 15% discount. Against the standard €16 non-resident adult admission, that leaves €13.60 payable. Other concessions cannot be stacked; check your eligibility and current exhibition ticket before comparing.
