A city worth sharing.
Real people. Their own words.
Contributor rules · 21 October 2026 · Version locals-2026-10-21
Your guide, your choice
You must be 16 or older to apply. Use a display name you are comfortable publishing. Only submit words you have the right to share. Your notes should reflect your own experience: no invented visits, fake reviews or copied descriptions.
What becomes public
A public guide can include your display name, handle, introduction, Lisbon area/year, selected places, notes, collections, day ideas, tips and business disclosures. Cloud saving is private. Only a separate publication request and human approval make a profile public. Every update is reviewed; the old approved version stays live until replacement.
Your words remain yours
You retain ownership. To operate the guide, you give Lisbonline a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, format and display the material you choose to publish. The licence ends when you delete that material, apart from limited case records needed to handle reports or legal obligations. We do not sell your notes or use them to train an AI model.
Be useful, kind and clear
No harassment, hate, threats, illegal content, spam, private contact details or misleading endorsements. Tell readers if you own, work at, or received a gift from a business. A disclosed connection is not automatically a rejection. A local-connection badge requires a real manual check; it is not a guarantee of any venue.
How review works
A person reviews first publications and changes. Automated pattern checks can flag possible spam or private details; they do not decide publication. We may ask for changes, decline a submission or restrict a profile. Removal decisions appear in the contributor account with a specific reason, the rule or legal basis, and an appeal form. An accepted appeal needs a fresh editorial publication decision; it does not silently restore a page.
Report a concern
Each public profile and note has a Report link. Include the precise page or note and explain the concern. For an illegal-content notice, explain why you believe it is illegal and any relevant legal ground. Do not upload illegal imagery or identity documents. You can give contact details for an email receipt; anonymous reports are also accepted. Keep your private receipt link for the decision. If you disagree, reply to hello@lisbonline.com with the reference; you may also seek independent or judicial remedies.
Questions & replies
Published contributors choose whether their inbox is open. You must be 16 or older to send a question. Be thoughtful and specific; leave out names, personal contact details, booking information and links. The question and reply are initially private to the reader with the private link, the contributor and Lisbonline. There is no promise of a reply and no email notification.
Anonymous public sharing is optional. A Q&A appears on the profile only after the reader and contributor both agree and an editor reviews those exact words. The reader can withdraw sharing or delete their conversation using their private link; the contributor can take a Q&A offline. Every public Q&A has a report link. The same contributor rules and appeal process apply. Private conversations become unavailable after 90 days without changes; expired records are removed in bounded batches when a new question arrives. Keep your private link secret.
A useful guide deserves a little thanks
Readers can mark a published guide useful once per signed-in account and undo that choice. Do not buy, exchange or manufacture appreciation. Contributors cannot vote for their own guides. Totals do not replace editorial review, prove a venue’s quality or determine paid placement. Names and individual choices are private.
Leave or take your data with you
You can take your public page offline immediately, export your Locals data or delete it from your account. This does not delete your ChatGPT account or an independent device copy. Reports and related case records are retained separately for up to 180 days. Contact hello@lisbonline.com for privacy or moderation questions.

Optional Google Places lookups
Google lookups are an optional service in the private place-list workspace. Google Maps content is governed by the Google Maps Platform Terms. Google’s Privacy Policy also applies to information sent to Google. Do not scrape, bulk-download or redistribute Google results. Your own notes remain yours; your saved collection contains your text and place IDs, not a permanent copy of Google details.
Check the exact business and branch before confirming a match. Google ratings are third-party information and can change. A lookup, sign-in or private collection does not publish a Locals profile. How these lookups use data.
