Compadre · from the market to the kitchen

Choose ingredients at a market, cook a seasonal Portuguese meal and eat what you made.

In short

Compadre’s Lisbon market-to-kitchen experience begins with choosing ingredients, then moves to cooking a seasonal Portuguese meal and eating what you made. Pick it when learning the meal sounds more appealing than choosing another restaurant. Give the whole sequence its own time rather than treating the market visit as a separate sightseeing stop.

Why we send people here

A good plan if you would rather learn a little than tick off another restaurant. Start with the ingredients at a local market, cook a seasonal Portuguese meal, then sit down to eat what you made.

The right place

The market tour starts at a market; use the meeting instructions on your booking, not the school address.

The plan

Around four hours, in English, with a chef-led market visit, hands-on cooking and the meal afterwards. The menu changes with the season.

Ask about the cooking menu

Ask about the day’s menu and dietary needs before paying. “Sem coentros, por favor” is useful if, like me, you would rather skip coriander. No particular dish is guaranteed.

Before you book

Shared sessions welcome ages 6+ with an accompanying adult. Confirm the market meeting point—it is not necessarily the cooking school’s door.
