Castelo dos Mouros
Sintra’s hilltop wall walk, with views towards Pena and the Atlantic.

Gardens, tunnels and the initiation well, with its own timed ticket and closing arrangements.
Quinta da Regaleira is a Sintra visit for gardens, tunnels and the initiation well, with time to explore beyond the photograph. Book the official timed entry rather than treating a Pena ticket as interchangeable. The palace, chapel and exhibition rooms close before the gardens, so choose the order of your visit with that in mind.
Before you go
A longer outing — consider public transport or a taxi · steep climb · from Baixa (public area reference)
Walking estimates use distance and endpoint heights, not surveyed streets or step-free routes.
Give the gardens time instead of joining a queue for one well photo and leaving. Use Regaleira’s own ticket office online, and read its entry conditions separately from Pena’s. The palace, chapel and exhibition rooms close before the garden, so do not leave every indoor space until the end.
2026 ordinary adult 18–64 entry. A self-guided visit; audio-guide hire and guided activities are separate. Children through age 5 still need a free ticket.
Only parts of the gardens are wheelchair-accessible; the palace, chapel and Initiation Well are not. Visitors with mobility restrictions and under15s must be accompanied. Confirm a suitable route; pushchair access is not established.
