In short

Parque das Nações is Lisbon’s modern-waterfront option, with Oceanário and Pavilhão do Conhecimento giving a family outing its focus. Choose the aquarium or hands-on science, then leave time outside beside the water. The guide describes generally gentler stroller outings here than in the historic hills, while individual entrances still need checking.

The feel of Parque das Nações

We would choose the indoor anchor around what your group enjoys. Oceanário gives the day an aquarium focus; Pavilhão do Conhecimento gives it hands-on science. They are alternatives for planning, not an instruction to book two full visits just because the names appear beside each other.

The waterfront is the other part of the outing, not a gap between tickets. Leave time to come outside, walk and change pace after the indoor visit. Compared with the historic hills, this is the generally gentler stroller option in our guide, though that does not settle every doorway or access question.

One possible wander

Choose Oceanário or Pavilhão do Conhecimento first, then make the waterfront the next part of the day. If the group still wants the other attraction, decide that around the actual visit rather than committing in advance to a tightly packed double bill.

Eat & drink around the outing

Choose a table for your route, rather than a restaurant just because it shares a neighbourhood label.

Good to know

The family-friendly angle here comes from the aquarium, science visit and waterfront pairing. Review each venue’s actual visit and entrance details for your group. For a mixed-age group, choose the indoor attraction around shared interests, with the outdoor part left flexible. The guide does not turn “generally gentler” into a blanket step-free claim.

Quick answers

What can we do in Parque das Nações with children?

Choose Oceanário or Pavilhão do Conhecimento, then add waterfront time. The aquarium and hands-on science visit offer different indoor anchors for the day.

Should we visit Oceanário and the science museum on the same day?

We would choose one as the main visit first. Leave room for time outside rather than assuming both attractions need to fit into a single tightly scheduled outing.

Is Parque das Nações easier with a stroller?

Our guide describes generally gentler stroller outings here than in the historic hills. Check the actual routes and venue entrances for the visit you choose.
