Two cities. One properly checked ticket.
Lisbon to Porto by train: book the journey you mean
Start with the stations and the day, then compare the trains. A cheap search result is less helpful if it leaves from the wrong station or has a condition that does not suit your arrival. We would leave room around an airport connection rather than turn the first train into a race.

In short
For Lisbon to Porto by train, compare your exact CP service and boarding station, with Porto Campanhã as the intercity destination. The 2026 standard Alfa Pendular single from Lisboa Santa Apolónia or Oriente is €35.70 in Turística or €49.90 in Conforto. Promotions, seats and ticket conditions depend on the journey you choose.
Lisboa is not one departure platform
The Alfa Pendular tariff groups Lisboa Santa Apolónia and Lisboa Oriente for the Porto Campanhã fare. That does not mean you should turn up at either station without checking your booked service. Read the boarding station, date and departure time on the ticket, then arrange the journey there.
Campanhã and São Bento are different stations. Search for the actual final destination and inspect any onward connection instead of assuming the intercity train leaves you in the historic centre. A return journey needs the same care: the train you came on does not decide the one you should book home.
The standard fare is a reference, not a live quote
CP’s 2026 full-price Alfa Pendular single between the listed Lisbon stations and Porto Campanhã is €35.70 in Turística or €49.90 in Conforto. These are adult one-way tariff figures, not a return price, a child concession or an advance-sale offer.
Compare the exact services in CP’s booking results, including Intercidades if it appears for your journey. Read the actual departure and arrival rather than planning around a universal travel time. Offers can differ by train and class; a promotional headline is not the price of every available seat.
Before you press pay
Use CP’s own website or app for the current train, seat and fare conditions. Its online terms allow sales up to 60 days ahead; a date outside the sale window is not evidence that the service will never run. Review service notices before choosing a tight connection.
Check passenger names, date, origin, destination, class and any discount eligibility. Save the ticket and required identification where you can reach them. This website does not sell the journey, take payment or reserve a seat when you save a Lisbon plan.
A flexible ticket and a Promo ticket are not the same
Read the conditions of the particular fare before buying. CP’s refund page excludes Promo and TrainSharing tickets, as well as partially used tickets. Do not assume that a low fare can be refunded just because another product has an after-sales deadline.
For a change or an eligible refund, use CP’s current after-sales instructions and act before the relevant deadline. Availability and any price difference still matter. Keep the booking email and ticket number; do not post them in a public guide question or a shared plan.
Leave a gap around flights and separate bookings
If you are landing at Lisbon Airport first, separate the flight arrival, baggage collection, Metro or car journey, station transfer and train boarding. The Red-line Metro connects the airport and Oriente, but this guide cannot promise how long your arrival formalities or platform approach will take.
We would keep lunch or a short station-area pause easier to change than the train. If assistance or a particular seat arrangement is essential, settle that with CP before relying on the connection. Keep the final route into Porto in your plan too, not just the intercity ticket.
Quick answers
How much is the Lisbon to Porto train?
CP’s 2026 standard Alfa Pendular adult single is €35.70 in Turística or €49.90 in Conforto from Lisboa Santa Apolónia or Oriente to Porto Campanhã. The actual offer, class, service and fare conditions for your date can differ.
Which Lisbon station should I use for Porto?
Use the boarding station printed on your booked service. The tariff lists Santa Apolónia and Oriente, but that is not permission to substitute any departure station or any train.
Does the intercity ticket take me to Porto São Bento?
Read your actual itinerary. Porto Campanhã and São Bento are different stations; confirm any onward connection and whether it is included before buying.
Can I refund a cheap CP Promo ticket?
CP’s published refund conditions exclude Promo tickets. Check the specific fare before paying rather than applying another ticket’s refund rules to it.
Keep planning
